Stanley TRE550Z – The Basics

The Stanley Company never seizes to amaze us with their latest products. This one isn’t an exception either. It has most features you need for a serious DIY project. In fact, you can tackle a massive task without any concerns because this unit is designed to cope with demanding projects.

What makes the TRE550Z worth checking out is the ease of use, versatility, and efficiency. As you may know, people usually look for the products that aren’t complex but still do the job well. If you’re one of those people, you’ve hit the jackpot; this is the thing you’ve been looking for. Take a moment and check the features out to see if it meets your requirements.

The Stanley TRE550Z Features

The design

The design is not bad. Although it doesn’t offer any impressive features, it’s still sturdy and ergonomic. One could argue that staple guns made of plastic don’t perform as well as the ones made of metal, but it’s not always true. In fact, this is a perfect example of an exception. Even though the whole unit is mainly made of plastic, that doesn’t affect the performance at all.

The shape of the gun is pretty neat. It lets you rest your arm on top of it for the whole time. In simpler words, there’s no way you’ll feel any fatigue or joint pain with this particular model. Truth be told, it’s an electric unit which automatically means you don’t have to invest much power in order to get the job done.

Hi/Lo mode

This mode is what makes the model so interesting for many people. It lets you adjust the power of penetration with a switch of a button. Therefore, if you’re planning to process soft wood, all you have to do is select the Lo mode. On the other hand, the Hi mode is perfect for dense and hard planks. It’s a convenient feature, and it helps a lot on many occasions.

The simplicity

Even though many people expect it to be a complex device with a ton of PCBs, mechanisms, and so on – it’s not. In fact, it’s one of the simplest ones around. While it can be a pretty good thing, lack of electronics sometimes tends to be a burden as well. Luckily, it’s usually a great advantage because it affects the overall weight of the unit.

Quick-jam clear

Reloading the unit is a piece of cake. However, jamming is always a possible occurrence. But, thanks to some great engineering, people from Stanley made sure you don’t have to hassle much with jamming. All you have to do is restart the mechanism, and you’re ready to go.

Nail Gun Feature

The outstanding driving power of this device allows one to use it as a brad nail gun, too. This is especially useful when you have to deal with sturdy materials, like hardwood, meaning that you won’t have issues with driving nails into the decking or thick walls.

This feature turns the Stanley TRE550Z into a sort of a multi-tool and increases its versatility. No longer will you have to use two different devices for stapling and driving nails – the TRE550Z can take care of both jobs and thus become an inseparable part of your toolbox.

R

Things we liked about it

The first thing we liked about it is the simplistic and ergonomic design. If you think about it, the overall usefulness and efficiency of a stapler greatly depend on the design. Luckily, this one is pretty neat meaning it’s quite effective and adjuvant.

The trigger is well-made, and that’s what most people love about it. Some units tend to have overly-sensitive triggers, and those can lead to some unpleasant surprises.

Q

Things we didn’t like

As far as we are concerned, there aren’t many downsides. However, the biggest one could be the materials used in production. Although it’s a matter of personal preference, we would have liked it more if there were more metal parts involved. Don’t get it wrong, the plastic is extremely durable and sturdy, but it can wear over time, leaving you with a dead tool.

The cord is eight feet long which is not really impressive. It’s not a short one per se, but they could have integrated a longer cable. However, the matter is easily solvable with an extension cord.

What Users Say About The Stanley TRE550Z

Both DIY enthusiasts and professionals love this particular model because of its simplicity and affordability. It may not be a professional piece of equipment, but it certainly offers a lot of features and mainly a flawless performance.

It does come with a few disadvantages, but it’s nothing you can’t deal with. As long as you follow the instructions from the user manual, you shouldn’t have any issues.

Stanley TRE550Z Conclusion

In the end, it’s all up to you. As far as we are concerned the Stanley TRE550Z is a great tool and an excellent deal moneywise. Stanley is a well-known company, and they take great care of their customers. Therefore, you can count on favorable warranty conditions and a polite customer support 24/7.

You shouldn’t expect miracles from the Stanley TRE550Z, but it’s still a solid addition to your toolbox. The fact that you can adjust the power of penetration, reload it safely, and unjam it without many issues makes this model a perfect solution for people who plan on remodeling the furniture, fixing the fence, or any other project that comes to your mind.
