DEWALT DW716 – The Basics
As you may already know, Dewalt is a famous brand, and it’s quite respected by professionals. The main advantage of their products is supreme quality and affordability. In other words, you can rest assured that a vast majority of their products work as advertised.
As far as this model goes, it’s a great solution for both DIY-ers and professionals. It consists of 11 positive stops which improve productivity and ensure cutting accuracy.
The materials used in production are sturdy and durable. A vast majority of components are made of metal, mainly stainless steel. There are some plastic parts, but there’s no need to worry about durability because even if they are made of plastic, it’s not just any plastic, it’s a heavy-duty hardened plastic compound.
When it comes to the bevel cuts, this machine is one of the better ones on the market. It’s designed to deliver quick and accurate cuts without too much hassle. You can tilt the blade 0-48 degrees both to the left and right. As you can tell, versatility is one of its strongest points.
Safety
Like most other miter saws, this one doesn’t have a ton of safety features. The most notable one is the blade guard. It is made of transparent plastic so that you can see and supervise the blade while operating. Needless to say, make sure you read the user manual and study the working principles of this machine so that you avoid any nasty predicaments in the future. Remember, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
Dust collecting
While the machine is foreseen to use a dust bag, truth be told – it won’t help much. That doesn’t mean it can’t collect dust, but it’s not as much as one would expect. Also, the capacity of the dust bag is pretty underwhelming, to say the least.

Things we liked about it
The first thing most people like about this particular unit is its accuracy and precision. Thanks to the well-engineered miter base, it will make accurate cuts continuously without any deviations whatsoever. The other thing consumers like is the weight, or more precisely, the lack of it. A lot of people look for portability, and the DW716 can be regarded as highly portable.
This model is compatible with the DEWALT DW7187 adjustable miter saw laser system which further increases the overall accuracy of the unit. Also, the laser is quite affordable and extremely useful.
Needless to say, the quality of production is great. One of the things that make Dewalt so popular is their warranty conditions. Whenever you run into a problem, all you have to do is give them a call or write an email.
Things we didn’t like
We think the price could have been a bit more acceptable. However, considering the popularity of this brand, it’s safe to say that the somewhat premium price is justified. In fact, it’s always better to invest a couple of bucks more and opt for a premium machine, especially if you’re a professional and you process wood on a daily basis.
One small thing we’ve noticed is that the handle isn’t cushioned. Instead, it’s bare plastic. While some consider it to be irrelevant, the bare handle tends to vibrate more than the cushioned one.
What Users Say About The DWS716
Most people seem quite satisfied with this model. Some of them complained about the price, but it’s an expected outcome. While it’s an affordable machine, one cannot say it’s cheap. However, if you want smooth performance, great accuracy, and portability – you’ll have to pay for it.
