Black & Decker BDCCS20 Review Summary:

You can’t be a serious carpenter or handyman without a reliably circular saw. It’s one of the most essential and basic tools you can own, and it helps you cut through wood without too much of hassle. What sets the BDCCS20 from black and decker apart is the compact design that makes any task much easier than ever before.

It’s the ideal saw for finishing small jobs, and it runs on batteries. That means that you can take your work anywhere you want. The downside of the saw is that it can’t deliver the power of a corded saw, but it still has a wide range of applications. Another excellent thing about the BDCCS20 is that you can fully adjust everything from the cutting depth to the angle, and bevel adjustments are also possible. Let’s see what it has to offer in more detail.

 BDCCS20 Specifications:

  • Weight: 6lbs
  • Cutting capacity: 5-1/2 in.
  • Power: Battery powered (20 volts)
  • Cutting angles: from 45 to 90 degrees

Black & Decker BDCCS20 Circular Saw The Basics

A high torque motor 5-1/2-inches powers the saw. It allows fast cutting for a variety of different cuts. The tool is very compact and easy to control. You can get most cutting jobs around the house done in minutes, and that includes cutting wooden planks, beams, plaster walls, and so on. The power it delivers is really impressive when you consider its size.

The saw is durable and fully adjustable for every task. That’s a huge plus, and when you add the compact size, it’s evident that there’s a lot of different jobs you can do with this saw. It can cut up to 90 degrees, which is not a standard feature for all saws. The BDCCS20 is a cleverly designed tool that can make your life easier in many situations. Now, time to take a close look at its features.

The Black & Decker BDCCS20 Features

The Design

When you first look at this device, it seems like any other circular saw, but it doesn’t have an extension cord. The saw is designed to be used in hard to reach areas, which is why it’s so small and compact (5.5inches). The grip is covered with anti-slip rubber for extra safety. The front grip is ergonomic and is also coated with the same material.

This saw is ideal for jobs other, larger saws can’t cope with. When you find yourself doing a project that’s too small for a standard saw, it’s better to have a light saw than one with a lot of power. Since it’s so light and compact, it’s almost effortless to control so that you won’t get any signs of fatigue even after hours of use. The blade is thin but very durable.

Battery

The saw is powered by a 20V Lithium-ion battery, the same battery that’s used for other Black and Decker tools. It can hold a charge for 18 months if not used, and it has a fast recharge system that needs only 2 hours to recharge the battery completely. That’s great for people who don’t like to think about charging. The only downside is that the battery and charger don’t come with the purchase.

Safety

Safety is critical, especially when it comes to working with circular saws. The safety shroud on this model is made of metal, so you don’t have to worry about it cracking or falling apart. The cover is there for a reason, so don’t try and take it off because you’re risking serious injuries. Some people take it off because they get more control and the device becomes even smaller, but that’s not worth the risk.

R

Things we liked about it

The first thing we like about this is the fact that it’s compact enough to get some odd jobs done. If you’re a regular black and decker tool set user, you can use the battery you already own.

The bevel adjustment is very handy, and it allows you to make cuts at angles between 45 and 90 degrees. That’s a feature you can’t find on many circular saws, and it makes some otherwise complicated cutting jobs much easier. The compact size of the saw also means that you can store it in small spaces with ease. The handle is excellent at providing control while you cut.

The BDCCS20 comes with a 2-year warranty, which only speaks more about its quality. The saw is made of durable materials, and it can handle hundreds of hours of cutting without problems.

The safety features are also at a high level. There’s no cord, and that means that you can move around the job site without any obstacles. The safety shroud is made of metal, and it works flawlessly.

Q

Things we didn’t like

If you don’t own any cordless black and decker tool already, you will have to spend some extra money on a battery for this circular saw. That is probably a move by the company to make people loyal to the brand, but it might be a turnoff for those who don’t own a battery already.

The other thing that could use some improvement is the extra features. This product doesn’t come with anything else than the saw itself. That’s why most people see it as a product designed for beginners, which is not that far from the truth. A serious craftsman doesn’t have much use for it.

General User Impressions Of The Black & Decker BDCCS20

Overall, the BDCCS20 delivers as promised and over 70 percent of buyers are happy with this tool. Some people don’t like the fact that it doesn’t have a lot of power, but those people don’t understand what the tool is made for. The quality of this saw is at the highest standard, just like the other tools from the black and decker tool set. .

Conclusion

If you’re the type of person that spends a lot of time in the garage making things out of wood, the BDCCS20 will be a nice add-on to your collection of tools. It is light, compact, and effortless to operate. It can also make cuts anywhere from 45 to 90 degrees, which helps speed things up when working on complicated pieces. The safety is to the highest of standards. The only thing that could be a problem is the fact that it doesn’t come with a battery.
