Review Summary:

This is a piece of equipment that is not only great for contractors, but survivalists as well. Whatever task you set your mind on, illumination won’t be an issue, if you have the ZRP01g inyour collection. The Ryobi P701G is quite versatile -much more than you would expect from a work light.

It can be used in different places, different conditions and can be positioned in many ways – making your task easier. Its comprised of high-quality materials and will last you a long time. Both overall and during a single charge.

The Ryobi ONE 18V Cordless Lithium-Ion Work Light will greatly compliment the collection of any pro or hobbyist, but even more of one that already has some Ryobi tools in their possession. The reason being, it doesn’t come with a battery, which is also probably the only drawback of this model. However, Ryobi One+ Li-Ion batteries universally fit all of their tools, so you only need one or two if you have a number of Ryobi powertools.

Bosch 1006VSR – The Basics

Sometimes, it is the small things that have a significant impact on how smoothly a task will go. The ZRP701G Work Light is all about those minor details that can be of major importance when work is in progress. Even though it is just a work light, this Ryobi unit is quite multi-functional.

It is capable of being mounted on a 2×4 thanks to its convenient, integrated mounting slot. No matter where you are working, you will be able to securely place the light and forget about it until the job is done. The pivoting head allows you to direct the light where it is most needed.

The ZRP701G offers 130 lumens of light output that will make your workspace as bright as day. The light covers 100 yards of beam distance, which is probably more than enough. When you pair it with a Ryobi One+ Li-Ion battery, it will provide you with up to 35 hours of light.

The Features

Design

What seems to have become a pattern with Ryobi products is the ergonomic properties that each of their products comes with. This work light is no different. The handle is molded with notched rubber, allowing you to carry it easily and use it on the go, as it reduces slipperiness to the minimum.

Weight only about fourteen ounces, it can be carried around for a prolonged period of time if necessary, and won’t be much of a burden in your tool bag. Like most other Ryobi products, this unit is manufactured to be highly portable.

The head rotates 295 degrees, allowing you to adjust the direction of the beam where it is needed. Mechanics appreciate it as well, as the rotating head allows them to use it under the car while rotating tires. It sits steadily on a flat or semi-flat surface, so you can be assured it will stay in place and won’t slide off while you are in the middle of something.

The unit also has integrated mounting hooks for hanging. They make it an excellent replacement for a ceiling light in a place which lacks one. It is also equipped with a mounting slot that is designed for 2x4s, which ought to come in handy for both pros and DIYs. The design makes the ZRP701g so versatile and ideal for many different uses

Power

With its 130 lumens of light output, the ZRP701g outperforms a lot of more expensive, higher-end models on the market. The work light is capable of covering 100 yards of beam distance, which is enough for exploring uncharted territories, let alone any housework you might use it for.

A full battery charge will provide you with up to 35 hours of illumination, which might prove to be a lifesaver in case of a natural disaster. With such impressive properties, it seems that daylight is the only competitor of this brilliant Ryobi unit.

Battery

The battery will last you a while, and, as mentioned, a single charge can last up to 35 hours, but you will need to purchase it separately. As is the case with many individual Ryobi powertools, batteries are not included. However, once you buy the battery, you won’t be disappointed.

The model is compatible with any battery from Ryobi’s One+ family. The durable and never flat Li-Ion battery is compatible with other Ryobi One+ units.

Things we liked about it

The multi-functional design of the unit will make any user satisfied. It enables the user to use it even in severe and harsh circumstances. The unit is designed to please pros, homeowners and hobbyists alike. It is secure as a work light can get, and is highly portable.

The intensity and distance of the light make it great for any use you are likely to put it through, within reason. It might not be enough to cover a concert hall, but it will be more than enough for any home repair task you can think of.

Q

Things we didn’t like

The lack of a battery is something one, unfortunately, has to get used to when buying Ryobi tools individually, instead of a kit. Ryobi’s batteries are fantastic, as they are durable and versatile, but you will have to give more money to get one.

General Impressions

The ZRP801g is an affordable work light that has everything you’ll probably ever need in such a unit, except a battery. The model is great for so many things, DIY tasks and housework only being a portion of its possible uses. It comes highly recommended for everyone who is looking for a durable and powerful work light.

Conclusion

The ZRP801G is a work light that is designed to be of excellent service to anyone, not just professional contractors and hobbyists. It probably has much more things than you need in a portable light, which makes it great even for survivalist and adventures. But, since it lacks a battery, it is no use buying it unless you already have other Ryobi tools in your collection, or plan on buying more Ryobi units as well.
