Things we liked about it
Although a homeowner-grade tool and unsuitable for heavy-duty applications, the DCD771 has still managed to impress us with its convenient design and reliable performance.
Due to the fact that it was made by the DeWalt, the look and feel of this device is not cheap or flimsy. It’s a well-constructed, robust model that, if used with care, could serve you for the years to come. It sports the company’s ergonomic design and has an excellent fit in hand, as well as solid balance.
With this drill/driver, you will be able to tackle all of your standard drilling and driving jobs around the house. The 300 UWO engine and the all-metal transmission provide enough strength for successful completion of every task, while the 1/2″ ratcheting chuck with carbide inserts removes the need for frequent re-tightening.
Things we didn’t like
TheDCD771 was not designed for heavy-duty applications. Using the model for demanding tasks will almost certainly lead to overloading and overheating -there’s just not enough power. Those who need a more potent device of this type should look elsewhere.
Our only other complaint is the lack of additional features, such as the battery gauge or the LED light. Without these features, using the model in areas with poor lighting is much harder, and there is no way to quickly check the remaining battery juice.
General Impressions
Those who bought DCD771 are generally satisfied with its design and performance. They say that it offers a good value for the price and that it’s an excellent choice for smaller jobs. The users are especially pleased with the unit’s chuck,claiming that it provides a good grip over the bit.
